ARTIST STATEMENT

My art is how I process my life, it is the lens I see the world through. Art, and sketchbooking especially, is how I document my surroundings and memories in an easily recordable and detailed manner. While my work is very realistic, I push many aspects such as composition, color and stylization to exaggerate my feelings and thoughts in the moment.

I focus mainly on interior environments (bedrooms, kitchens, cars, etc.) because of how easily they illustrate and give context into the people living or working there. I have also studied figures and faces as a way to further my documentation of the people and things around me.

I currently use colored pencils and pens to create my work but I am thinking about how I could utilize my animation skills as a way to record my life in further detail (flipbooks, observational animations, animated still lifes). In addition to observational work, my website includes a few pieces of fan-work (mainly for the band Peach Pit).
